In 2016, locals Mourning [A] BLKstar released their first single, "Field N***as, My Heroes," a noisy, dub-inspired dirge, and we wrote that it’s “a bold song, unlike anything that's come out of Cleveland in years.”
Tonight, the talented band performs as part of MIX, a monthly event that takes place at the
Cleveland Museum of Art. The event celebrates the museum's current exhibit, Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe. There will be dancing, wearable art and specialty cocktails plus free admission to the exhibition.
Choreographer Amy Notley will premiere her dance performance 4 Direct Actions, which will be accompanied by wearable art by Ron Shelton. Mourning A BLKstar’s RA Washington will DJ.
Patrons can create a collaborative collage using a landscape drawing of the Rialto Bridge as a backdrop, and Provenance Café will serve special food and cocktails until 9 p.m.
The event takes place tonight from 6 to 10. Tickets are $15, or free for CMA.
