National Anthem Auditions for Akron RubberDucks Games Open to All

The United States of America's national anthem is no joke to sing, just ask Fergie. Still, despite its ridiculous amount of low and high notes, the tune must be sung prior to most every sporting event in the country, including at Akron RubberDucks games.

Next Saturday, anyone bold enough to share their voice with a crowd should bring their best rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner to Canal Park starting at 10 a.m. Groups and soloists alike can audition for a chance to sing at one of the minor league team's 70 home games. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. and auditions run until noon.

“The singing of the national anthem is one of baseball’s great traditions,” said Sara Varela, Rubber Ducks promotions coordinator, in a statement. “We’re looking for fans who are able to bring a good amount of energy to the ballpark and who sing from the heart.”

Potential candidates should be prepared to sing outside using a microphone. But don't worry, you won't have to sing long, the judges will cut each audition off after 90 seconds.
