Brian Hager & the Sky Rockets, the new band featuring Brian Hager, the former guitarist of Cleveland-based glam rock outfit Vanity Crash and current guitarist in Travis Haddix’s band, will make its debut on Saturday, Nov. 9, at
CODA in Tremont.
Hager, who previously played in the local act the Tie Downs, describes the group as “an original glam rock ’n’ roll band with old school influences such as the Rolling Stones, David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust days and Marc Bolan’s T-Rex fused with a hint of '90s rock alternative.”
“Life is too short,” says Hager. “[It’s] time to stop taking music so seriously and have some fun. Who knows how much time we all have left. It’s just music. I thought that writing music exploring topics of anxiety, depression and social issues with the Tie Downs would be a good outlet for my anxiety and would help me cope with it better. It just made me dwell on the things I can’t change or the negative aspects of the things I can, instead of really doing something about them. And I’m not changing the world doing any of this."
Hager recruited fellow Haddix bandmate, Ed Lemmers, to play bass and Rick Snider to play drums.
Vanity Crash, who's also on the bill, will play a set of original music and a set of Bowie tunes. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the music starts at 8:30 p.m.
