Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club to Bring Farewell Tour to Lakewood Civic Auditorium

Following the release of Buena Vista Social Club, the Oscar-nominated Wim Wenders documentary, the then-unknown Cuban jazz group Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club became an international sensation.

The band draws from years of performing at Havana's clubs and dancehalls, playing a range of different styles of music, including son montunos, danzón, cha cha cha, boleros and jazz.

Currently on a farewell tour, the group will perform at 7 p.m. on October 23 at Lakewood Civic Auditoirum with singer Omara Portuondo (pictured). The performance will include special guests such as Roberto Fonseca, one of Havana’s best known pianists, clarinetist Anat Cohen and violinist Regina Carter.

Tickets to the show range from $25 to $35 and can be purchased by calling 216-987-4444. The concert is part of the 2016-2017 Tri-C Presents season, which showcases classical piano, jazz and dance acts from fall through spring.
