'Prairie Home Companion' comes to Cleveland

NPR's Prairie Home Companion will broadcast a live episode from the bucolic setting of Cuyahoga Falls' Blossom Music Center 5:45 p.m. Saturday, June 21. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Saturday, at LiveNation.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. They're $26 to$60 (children 12 and under free lawn admission with paid adult ticket). Presided over by host Garrison Keillor, the genteel radio comedy/variety show has been on the air since shortly after radio was invented. It has aired live nearly every Saturday night, except for a couple long hiatuses, because even the mild-mannered host can get tired of the shtick about fictional backwood Minnesota town Lake Wobegon, a hamlet of color characters stuck between yesteryear and tomorrow, as sponsored by Powdermilk Biscuits. The show even made it to the big screen last year, in Robert Altman's dramatization, with big-name Hollywood talent like Woody Harrelson and Meryl Streep, and, of course, Lindsay Lohan, who officially did zilch to spice it up. -- D.X.
