Q: Are We Not KSU Grads? A: We Are Devo!

Whip it good

Kent State University is wrapping up its centennial celebration with a new TV campaign featuring some famous alum ... well, at least the first one is famous.

The first commercial — starring Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh — will premiere on Saturday during the noon KSU vs. Penn State game on ESPN.

Two days later they bust out all over the place.

The next two commercials feature less dazzling KSU grads: sisters Joan Stikes-Jenkins and Gina Stikes-Shoehalter — one works at a local VA, the other does PR for MSNBC.com — are in the first one; Diaz McDaniel, a process engineer, is in the third one (we don't even know what a process engineer does, so don't expect us to have ever heard of McDaniel).

Still, the Mothersbaugh one is cool. The Devo dude, who now lives in California, composed new music for the spots, which will be heard in all of the commercials. —Michael Gallucci
