As part of Black History Month, which takes place in February, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum aims to highlight “extraordinary contributions that African Americans have had on popular music.” As part of the programming for the month, the Rock Hall has just announced that it has booked rapper Casey Veggies to play a Sonic Sessions concert on Friday, Feb. 19.
A former high school basketball star and original member of the SoCal super group Odd Future (OFWGKTA), Veggies released his first mixtape,
Customized Greatly, on MySpace. His popularity rose in the wake of its release and he’s toured with the likes of Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar and Nipsey Hussle. He now even owns a boutique store and clothing line, Peas and Carrots International (PNCINTL). He’s touring in support of last year’s
Live & Grow, an album that features cameos by BJ The Chicago Kid, Dej Loaf and Tyler the Creator.
Tickets to the show cost $5.50; they’re on sale now at
tickets.rockhall.com or at the Rock Hall box office.
