Regional Blues Acts to Play Fundraising Gig

Regional blues acts Bongo Joe & Little Steve and the Whiskey Shambles won this year’s Northeast Ohio Blues Association’s Blues Challenge and will head to Memphis in January to represent Northeast Ohio at the International Blues Challenge (IBC). The two acts are rather different from each other.

Bongo Joe & Little Steve are an Akron-based acoustic blues duo that regularly plays the Northeast Ohio circuit, performing at both small bars and clubs and on street corners. The Whiskey Shambles are a ragtag garage blues band out of Cincinnati who’ve been compared to acts such as the Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr. and the White Stripes. Since the bands don’t have the proper funds to make the trip, they’ll play a special concert to raise money to cover their costs. The concert takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at North Canton Eagles (6979 Sunset Strip, North Canton). JT’s barbeque Food Truck will be on hand. While the event is free, a $10 donation is suggested.
