Self-described as an “inspirational and thought-provoking meeting of progressive minds designed to provide heightened stimulation through underexposed artists and their music,” the Keepers of the Art Music Showcase Concert Series regularly brings national hip-hop acts to town. The group’s focus: “to socialize and entertain the masses through soulful meetings that showcase soul music and next level hip-hop music.”
On Sunday, July 17, at Musica Akron, Keepers of the Art, the organization kicks off its 2016 Music Showcase Concert Series with a performance from the Grammy Award-winning alternative hip-hop group Digable Planets, which has recently reunited. The group’s innovative debut album
Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) featured the catchy hit "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" earning a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
Tickets are currently on sale. They cost $20 for pre-sale and $25 the night of the show.
