During the last 25 years, Rusted Root has played on some big stages supporting acts such as Santana, the Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, the Allman Brothers Band, the HORDE Festival and the Jimmy Page/Robert Plant reunion tour. Its music has been featured in films like
Ice Age,
Twister and
Matilda as well as in TV shows like
New Girl,
Ally McBeal,
Charmed and
Chuck. The band’s music even found its way into Enterprise Rent-A-Car commercials.
The Pittsburgh-based band recently decided to go on hiatus, but frontman Michael Glabicki isn’t sitting still. He’s teamed up with guitarist Dirk Miller and embarked on a tour. The two come to
Royal Docks Brewing Co. in Canton on Sept. 1.
Glabicki and Miller will perform “inspired” versions of Rusted Root tunes as well as “new and exciting” songs such as the funky “Man Not a Machine,” a tune Glabicki has described as “a song about the collective cellular dance that has been happening at my shows for the last few years.”
