Sense Fail screamo scene suicidal despair
Coming out of the ever-fertile emo-screamo scene, New Jersey's Senses Fail has served up murderous fantasies, lethal desperation, suicidal despair, and buckets of self-loathing since 2002. Consider this line from the title track to 2006's Still Searching: "I stare at accidents in a sick attempt to feel at all." Hell, Morrissey has got nuthin' on these guys.

Senses Fail is known for its high-voltage performances. Frontman James "Buddy" Nielsen specializes in manic stage diving and unloading his personal convictions. Meanwhile, Heath Saraceno and Garrett Zablocki have sharpened their rudimentary guitar skills, as the group has edged closer to the mainstream with a pop-shaded punk sound powered by grinding riffs. Fans can even expect to hear hints of techno and the occasional acoustic number.

Whether contemplating a run headlong into traffic or exhorting an ex-lover to hurl herself off a cliff, SF's greatest appeal is to adolescent males who are seriously disaffected. But here's the scary part: Some of these dudes may have made these songs the soundtrack of their lives.
