- Ready, set, go.
The southwest corner of West 9th Street and St. Clair Avenue in the Warehouse District has looked pretty dreary since the last occupant of the ground-floor space there, Club Shadows, closed late last year. That changes tomorrow night with the opening of a brand-new nightclub called Set (1360 W. 9th St., 216-298-4448, setcleveland.com). Arnold Hines, whose Word of Mouth Promotions has hosted and promoted weekly parties, concerts and special events at a multitude of other venues in the past 15 years, is running his own venue for the first time, in a partnership with Zdenko Zovkic, owner of XO Prime Steaks at. West Sixth and St. Clair. They’re not making any structural changes to the space, which was also home to the original Wilbert’s, Funky Buddha, and Trammps, but they are doing major redecorating to give the space a completely different look and create what Hines calls a “nice, upscale club.” They’re aiming to attract “stylish young professionals and hip A-listers.” They’ll throw the doors open at 9 p.m. tomorrow with music provided by Mick Boogie. DJ Go and Impure. After that it will be open from 9-2:30 Thursday-Saturday. — Anastasia Pantsios
