Slayer headlines the Rockstar Mayhem Festival at Blossom tonight (doors 2:15 p.m., Tickets: $25-$49.50). Canton's Marilyn Manson (check your yearbook for Brian Warner) co-headlines. Mushroomhead is playing this show and two other Midwest dates. And you're a damned fool if you don't show up early for Behemoth's set; the black/death metalers will leave bruises all over you, even if you avoid the pit. Their new album, Evangelion, is ridiculously brutal.
Sunday night, you can catch Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo on the Classic Metal show, with an interview by former Metal Show host Chris Aiken.
Slayer's upcoming LP, World Painted Blood, is due late this summer, possibly in early fall. The band will likely play the first single, "Psychopathy Red," tonight. The second single, "Hate Worldwide," is streaming live at ShockHound.com. It's also available as a CD single, exclusively at Hot Topic stores. Talk about your signs of the apocalypse. Read more about the record here.
Marilyn Manson's past couple albums might be duds, but his new feud with the relaunched Buddyhead is pretty amusing. —D.X. Ferris
