Sloan alt-rock Spoon

Canadian alt-rockers Sloan have been making riff-fueled music for 17 years now. In 2006, they released Never Hear the End of It, a 30-track behemoth that pretty much summed up everything good (those power-pop riffs) and bad (they can be tragically dull) about them. The just-out Parallel Play is a less-ambitious record of solid but kinda forgettable songs contributed by all four members in solo turns. They're kinda like the Beatles in that respect. They're also a lot like Spoon, playing short, snappy songs that never quite live up to all the hype.
