The Akron-based funk/soul band the Admirables came together a few years back when singer Wesley Bright asked Nathan-Paul Davis to put together a group to play at his birthday party.
Davis then recruited some local jazz musicians to join the band. The ensemble, which Davis describes as “funky soul,” has been going strong ever since.
Now, the group has just issued a funky new single, “Rice Pudding,” along with an accompanying music video. Shot on the West Bank of the Flats, the music video centers on a mysterious man who hands out cups of rice pudding to anyone having a bad day.
“If you've seen this group live, you know you it is an exciting experiencing — catchy hooks, fat grooves and righteous earth bending solos,” says band leader Nathan Paul in a press release announcing the new song and music video. "This video is entertaining. [It has] lots of laughs and goofy weird stuff, which I love!"
Davis teamed up with Tots Film Production and pitched the concept that it helped bring to fruition.
