Okay, so they're a novelty act. But the fact that they've been doing this for 10 years, to not exactly exponentially increasing audiences, and always with a smile and a full-hour set, proves that this all means something important to them. To you, it'll be one of the creepiest, funniest acts you'll see at the Beachland this year.
Former Beachland employee Carol Schumacher moved down to Columbus, but don't be too quick to judge. The beer's cheaper down there, and she was able to land the bass gig in the Tough & Lovely, that town's most popular indie band. In under two years, they've tightened into an off-the-beaten-trend garage bunch, adding dollops of slinky R&B, mainly by way of the gal crooner's powerful pipes. Recently they released a swell 7-inch and have begun to incorporate new moves, like cheeky, late-'70s Stones licks played backwards or something. All in all, it's a bill that spells l-o-f-i h-i-p-s-h-a-k-e!
