Members of the Exploited came together in the late '70s, and their early sound reflects the sing-along pub-rock roots of their Oi! forefathers. In the early '80s, they were the U.K. poster boys for very tall mohawks. Led by frontman Wattie Buchan, a rotating lineup has carried on intermittently, issuing more than 20 albums, many of them live, most of them footnotes to their debut. On last year's Fuck the System, the band fully embraced the Discharge-style metal influences it had dabbled in over the years. The single "Never Sell Out" even aired on MTV's Headbanger's Ball, leaving the group's few diehard fans to wonder who in the world would pressure a band whose best days are 20 years behind them to sell out now.
