This indie pop band tends to think of its music as cinematic. That's why the packaging for this two-song single describes the track as something that was "directed by" the band. While cinematic could mean a variety of things, it's more apt to say that the Modern Electric is just a really good pop band. Comparisons to Radiohead notwithstanding, the group goes for catchy melody over atmosphere in "All We Have Is," a haunting tune that features slight, falsetto vocals and a herky-jerky melody that threatens to fall apart. As a bonus, the b-side is the band's "David Bowie Save Us All (Redux)," a wondrous tribute (but not a cover song) to the Thin White Duke. — Jeff Niesel
