This is the true story of four strangers, picked to travel and share a stage at venues across the eastern end of the United States, to find out what happens when "emerging" singer-songwriters are thrown together, stop being polite, and start getting real. Welcome to The Real World -- Modern Troubadours.

Bereft of any formal connection (no shared label, no shared management), the four participants -- Abra Moore, Vienna Teng, Ben Arthur, and Teitur -- are all creators of recent, well-produced records that reside on the hip side of Adult Contemporary, the type of artists whose videos would be played on VH1-2 if such a channel existed.

"It'll just fuse," Moore says over the background noise of Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. "You've got to work it whatever you do," she says. "No road's easy. It's no cakewalk, but the payoff is being able to share my music and connect, you know what I mean?"

The waifish former member of Poi Dog Pondering (a co-founder, she was once also credited as "chanteuse") will take a short breather and do a load of laundry before heading north from her native Austin to Minneapolis for the start of the Troubadours tour. She sees no problem with the fact that she's never met the other three artists, never heard their music.

"It'll just grow and happen," Moore says. "It'll be like songwriter camp or something."
