Last we heard from Stephe DK, he was manning the drum kit for local garage rockers Coffinberry. He's the frontman here, with a sardonic yelp that drips vinegar and lyrics that are by turns acerbic and affecting (he lampoons teen metalheads one moment, then equates love with Peter Laughner the next). DK's expressive guitar work reveals serious emerging talent, especially when he's turning tongue-in-cheek tunes like "I Felt Like Woody Allen" into dirty blues rippers. "You don't hear the sound of something big going down" he accuses on the album's closing cut. We sure do.
