What to Do Tonight: Erik Norlander’s Galactic Collective

As keyboardist for a latter-day version of ’80s prog-pop group Asia — or more specifically, Asia Featuring John Payne, a spin-off from the ever-devolving band — Erik Norlander is no stranger to nostalgia. So it’s appropriate that for the first-ever live show he’s playing with his new band, Galactic Collective, Norlander has recruited the decidedly retro Solar Fire Lightshow to spark things up. Norlander just released a new CD and DVD, but don’t expect anything that deviates from the ornate synth work that litters ’70s albums by Yes and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Tribute band Pink Droid starts things off at 7:30 p.m. at the Shore Cultural Centre Theatre (291 E. 222nd St., 216.289.8578). Tickets: $17 advance, $20 day of show. — Jeff Niesel
