What to Do Tonight: Trans-Siberian Orchestra

A Christmas tradition that seemingly knows no bounds, Trans-Siberian Orchestra has taken its show to more cities and bigger venues since forming in 1999. This season’s tour, which kicked off in early November, runs through early January. TSO is so popular these days, it takes two different touring groups to bring the synth-heavy rock opera to fans. The band is touring behind Night Castle, an overwhelming double-disc affair that clocks in at the two-hour mark. Operatic vocals and ornate arrangements typify the 26-song album, which sounds like Meat Loaf-meets-Mannheim Steamroller. While the meaty guitar solos rifle through a song like “The Mountain,” the whole thing is a bit much, especially when TSO pays tribute to Emerson, Lake and Palmer on “Nutrocker,” which features ELP bassist Greg Lake. The shows take place at 3 and 8 p.m. today and tomorrow at Quicken Loans Arena (One Center Court, 216.241.5555, livenation.com). Tickets: $25-$57. — Jeff Niesel
