Known as one of the great blues harmonica players the world, Corky Siegel will join Mark Hummel and Billy Boy Arnold for the 2017 Blues Harmonica Blowout that takes place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Wilbert’s. The lineup visiting Wilbert's is only hitting two cities: Cleveland and Chicago.
Hummel founded the Blues Harmonica Blowout tours, which he has produced regularly since 1991. Led by Hummel, the blues supergroup Golden State Lone Star Revue — guitarist Anson Funderburgh, guitarist Mike Keller, drummer Wes Starr and bassist RW Grisby — will back the harmonica players.
“The spotlight, of course, will shine on Hummel as vocalist, but he wisely integrates himself in the band for the reliable blues band situation,” writes critic James Nadal in a press release announcing the show. “As this music continues its generational journey, the Golden State Lone Star Blues Revue represent the contemporary keepers of the flame, assuring the blues will never die."
Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 20 years now. And on a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town, too. If you're in a band that he needs to hear, email him at [email protected].
