Fantastic Mr. Fox tops this week's picks

Fantastic Mr. Fox

(Twentieth Century Fox)

One of last year's best movies comes to DVD in a combo pack that also includes Blu-ray and digital copies. Be sure to watch the HD version, which highlights the groundbreaking stop-motion animation. The farmland fable is basically a Wes Anderson film with puppets, starring George Clooney as a bird-stealing fox looking for one more score. Extras go behind the scenes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package

The best multiplayer videogame of all-time just got better with this download (for the Xbox 360) featuring five new maps. A couple of them — Crash and Overgrown — are tasty leftovers from the first Modern Warfare. The rainy Storm level is cool, but best is Bailout, which is set in an abandoned apartment building, complete with swimming pool and game room.

The Icons of Suspense Collection Presents Hammer Films

Hammer is best known for making some of the world's campiest, gothiest and greatest horror movies. But the six films gathered on this three-disc set are monster-free suspense flicks, and most of them are shockingly good. Best is These Are the Damned, a futuristic and often surreal tale about radioactive kids, and The Snorkel, which is way better than its dreadful title.

The Lord of the Rings

Remastered Deluxe Edition

Peter Jackson's terrific Tolkien trilogy came out last week on Blu-ray. Now, Ralph Bakshi's animated version from 1978 makes its HD debut. Bakshi (the cult director behind some of the headiest head films of the '70s) paints Middle-earth as a bucolic playground for Hobbits and hippies alike. He also compresses the story's epic scope into a two-hour, bong-worthy head trip.

Stax Number Ones

Stax is one of the greatest record companies ever. During its late-'60s/early-'70s peak, the Memphis-based label racked up tons of R&B classics. The 15 songs on this collection are the ones that reached No. 1, including hits by Isaac Hayes ("Theme From Shaft"), Otis Redding ("[Sittin' on] The Dock of the Bay"), and Sam & Dave ("Hold On! I'm Comin'" and "Soul Man").
