Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley Will DJ a Set At Blue Arrow Records on Saturday

Record Store Day is Saturday, and amazing events will be unfolding around town all day. (For instance, The Toadies will be signing 20th-anniversary editions of Rubberneck on vinyl at Music Saves at 3 p.m., prior to playing the album in its entirety at Grog Shop. So that's the level of cool we're working with tomorrow.)

But I'd be sorely remiss if I didn't highlight the DJ set(s) going down at Blue Arrow Records all day. DJs Jake Kelly and Lawrence Daniel Caswell will perform sets from 11 a.m. onward, and the whole shebang culminates with a DJ set from Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley.

During Yo La Tengo show last year, Kaplan bragged about all the obscure blues/soul albums he had purchased in the basement of the Beachland. Bassist James McNew countered Kaplan's stage banter with his own far-out vinyl finds. It'll be terrific to get a chance to hear Kaplan and Hubley put needle to record and toss their own favorites/inspirations/etc. into the room. I'm not sure if an opportunity to hear this duo spin music for us Clevelanders will arise again anytime soon.

Check out a list of all Record Store Day releases. Happy hunting!
