D.X. Ferris's article on GNR's timeline is so full of inaccuracy, it's not even funny. If you're going to publish someone's personal vendetta, at least make sure they know what they're talking about. There are SEVEN inaccuracies in his story. That's a pretty hefty number for a single piece.
Buckethead (who has worked with Primus) joined the band in 2001, not 2004. He left in 2004, forcing the band to cancel an appearence at Rock in Rio (they made that up this year). Buckethead did not leave because Rose was eccentric. He left, rather, after trying and failing to secure a solo record deal via the management company representing GNR (Sanctuary).
Rose purchased the rights to the GNR name in 1992, not 1997. The cost of the album is not $15 million. In fact, no accurate record exists, since Geffen's books were wiped clean after Universal took over. It was like starting from scratch.
He fails to mention that GNR completed an extremely successful European tour this past summer, despite pointing out past cancelled European tours (guess that doesn't fit into his agenda). GNR's classic lineup did not record "Sympathy for the Devil." The rhythm guitarist on that track was Paul Tobias, who remained with the band until 2001.
The band did not cancel the first two shows of its 2006 North American tour. The shows were rescheduled, one has already taken place (a week after the initial date), the other will be held in January 2007.
Either get the guy a fact checker, or restrict him to writing reviews of local polka bands or something.
