- Yes, they really voted for me. Why are you laughing?
Yeah, go ahead and read that headline one more time.
Samuel Wurzelbacher, a.k.a. Joe the Plumber, everyone's favorite punchline or hero from a few years back, has won elected office in Ohio. Before you all line up to hop a boat to Canada, rest easy, it's not like Wruzelbacher is a mayor or anything. He's not going to ruin your life, yet.
In a 38-24, Joe the Plumber won a seat on the Lucas County Republican Party committee, which does stuff like send love letters to Sarah Palin, among other unspecified duties. There's almost 400 people on the committee, though one would expect Joe the Wurzelbacher to overshadow most of them.
Knowing his taste for low-key public events, there's little chance to Plumber Man grants interviews today to talk about his victory. He's just not that kind of guy. I would expect him to quietly drift out of the spotlight and focus on the work of the people and the party without letting his star power get in the way.
