More than 260,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered at the Cleveland State University Wolstein Center mass vaccination site during its 12-week run, officials announced on the occasion of the site's wind-down.
Monday will be the final day of vaccination at the site, where U.S. service members have been jabbing arms of locals and non-locals alike since mid-March. Vaccinations will continue until 8 p.m., but the main vaccination floor — the basketball court, where upwards of 6,000 people were vaccinated each day using a "stationary patient" model — has been cleared. Officials with Joint Task Force Magnus reported that more than 650 service members contributed to the mission and that 25 interpreters provided language services for non-English speakers.
The site was the largest of its kind in Ohio and was
the subject of rave reviews from those who were vaccinated there. Those Scene spoke with highlighted the efficiency of the operation and the friendliness of the service members and CSU volunteers.
During a very dark year, the Wolstein Center vaccination site was a bright spot.
The City of Cleveland will continue to offer weekly vaccinations, on Tuesday afternoons (1:00 - 6:30 p.m.) at the J. Glen Smith Health Center, (11100 St. Clair Ave.), and on Thursday afternoons (1:00 - 6:30 p.m.) at the McCafferty Health Center, (4242 Lorain Ave.).
