The three males, who might have been juveniles, were wearing masks and approached the reporter and photographer around 5:30 p.m. on East 99th St.
No injuries were reported but equipment was stolen.
Station general manager Erik Schrader tells Scene, "We are simply glad our crew was uninjured. Thank you to the Cleveland Police Department for their support and assistance. The care and concern from our viewers has been appreciated. This is a great city and community, we are proud to be a part of it."
The brazen crime was naturally the talk of Twitter.
Despite temperatures being less than 20 degrees, the Cleveland kids are still out there working hard: https://t.co/PZkjY0aWn8
