Earlier today, the Cleveland Museum of Art announced that tickets for Michelangelo: Mind of the Master, a major international loan exhibition featuring nearly 30 drawings, will go on sale on Aug. 21.

Organized by the Cleveland Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Museum in conjunction with the Teylers Museum, Haarlem, the Netherlands, the exhibit will be on view from Sept. 22 to Jan. 5, 2020.

Since Michelangelo burned so many of his drawings, Michelangelo: Mind of the Master provides “an extraordinary opportunity to witness firsthand a key group of sketches that survived from the artist’s studio in Rome.” The exhibit touches upon Michelangelo’s work as a painter, sculptor and architect.

The exhibit features a group of drawings on loan from the Teylers Museum, the oldest museum in the Netherlands. This collection of Michelangelo drawings has been in the museum since 1791, and many of them have never been shown outside Europe. This marks the first time the drawings will leave the Teylers Museum as a group.

CMA members may reserve their free tickets if their membership is current.
