ANOTHER GUY WHO WON'T BE RETURNING OUR CALLS

Public relations is considered by some in media as the dark side, and Cleveland port communications manager Luke Frazier, a former broadcaster, helped reinforce that notion last week. The frustrated flak treated Scene to a 30-minute telephone rant in response to the article "Lake-effect snow job?", which highlighted public skepticism about the port's relocation plans.

Frazier accused the reporter of being a (gasp!) "crusading journalist" for quoting several naysayers of the port's plan. Irked that Scene mentioned port CEO Adam Wasserman's $283,000 salary in the article, Frazier asked if Scene would publish the monthly Social Security benefits of Dominic LoGalbo, an elderly port critic and retiree. Seriously, he asked that.

Before hanging up, Frazier blurted, "I hope you really got off writing that one."

Frazier has a penchant for trying to control the tone of outgoing port news and griping when reporters fail to comply. He gets paid to do this, but considering Frazier's role for a public entity, we have to call him out. But we forgive you, Luke; we're guessing your Sith masters already spanked you for failing with your Jedi mind tricks. — Damian Guevara
