Band #5 — Milk Throat

I singled this band out as one to keep an eye on in this earlier post, so I thought it’d be nice to check up on them in rehearsal. Good move. Guitarist Jason Schafer, currently of The All-Comers and late of National Suicide Day and Lives of the Saints (in which he played with this blogger, for all y'all disclosure-junkies), hosts the rehearsals at his home in Tremont, and his lovely wife, fellow Lottery Leaguer Lisa Ellis (The All-Comers, Allied Federation Partnership Association, Hut-Hut-Hike) was feeding the band dinner, so I got stuffed with tacos, Yuengling and brownies. I decree that henceforth all Lottery bands I profile must feed me! FEEEEED MEEEEEEEE. Massively wishful thinking, I know.

Anyway, as noted in the previous post but repeated here anyway, Milk Throat is Matthew Chasney, Karen Wegryn, Mara Robinson and the aforementioned Shafer. Drummer Chasney has served in the Six Parts Seven and Jettaland, and appeared in a very early iteration of the Buried Wires. Singer Wegryn is the brains and voice behind the on-again-off-again Pandactyl and sang for previous League faves Twist It Nasty. Keyboardist Robinson has been spotted in the bafflingly-monikered mood merchants Kong Sauce and the far cheerier Craig Ramsey and the Nice People. They were cool enough to let me crash their rehearsal to record a tune and snap some pics, a kindness I’ll honor by shutting the fuck up now and just posting the stuff.

An untitled, unfinished song fragment in progress:

There you have it. Milk Throat, ladies and gentlemen. - Kretsch
