BAYarts 2015 Art and Music Festival features more than 80 exhibiting artists and a concert lineup headlined by Ray Cintron’s Rice and Beans Band. Stop by the BAYarts campus on the Huntington Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate art, music and summer.
"The BAYarts festival began as an affordable alternative to some of the larger festivals which featured a lot of out-of-state work, and whose fees made it prohibitive for many artists to participate in or attend,” explains BAYarts Executive Director Nancy Heaton. “Very relaxed and organic in nature, this festival focuses on local art, food and music. And there is no better venue than the BAYarts' beautiful Metropark campus in June.”
From 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Joey, Wes and Tommy will be covering sing-along hits, and Ray Citron and The Rice and Beans Band will infuse Latin Jazz into the Festival on the BAYarts Summer Stage from 1 to 4 p.m.
Additionally, BAYarts galleries present two current exhibitions. The Sullivan Family Gallery hosts Mary Deutschman’s Painting in the Metroparks with Color. Her paintings are inspired by Northeast Ohio’s “Emerald Necklace.”
"The Cleveland Metroparks is filled with fabulous inspiration,” says Deutschman. “It is referred to as The Emerald Necklace because it is a park system that surrounds the city and suburbs. It is made up of rivers, waterfalls, bridges, hills, winding roads, bike paths, trees, flowers, picnic areas, families of deer and other wildlife. Each season is a gift. I have painted its many faces but have not yet realized all of its beauty."
Meanwhile, BAYarts’ Dianne Boldman Education Gallery celebrates the farm-to-table movement and its own Farmer’s Market with Simple Gifts: A Farm to Table Celebration. Simple Gifts showcases the simple splendor of agriculture, and honors the American farm.
This year, June 13 is known as Destination Bay, a day of simultaneous events throughout Bay Village. Participating vendors include Images in Bloom, Aunt Jeannie's Attic, Chris Deighan Art, Loni B. Jewelry, Darbywood's Fine Woodworking, Jeff Allmon Windchimes , Sub Rosa Tea, Lake Waters Pottery, Premiere Screening, Big City Skylines Drawings, Whimsy Folk and Zensational.
