BAYarts Holiday Shop Opens Saturday With 100 Local Artists and Artisans

There’s no way around it, no matter how hard you may try: You’re going to have to buy something for someone you care about this holiday season, right?

In our concerted effort to get you to shop local this season, we'd like to point out BAYarts' Holiday Sale (28795 Lake Rd.), which boasts over 100 participating local artists and artisans and zero waiting outside in line in front of a big box store. The Holiday Shop opens this Saturday, Nov. 22, with an open house from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“BAYarts offers a unique shopping experience in a place committed to the the tradition of promoting artists,” explains BAYarts shop manager Karen Petkovic. “This year we will have screen printed Cleveland t-shirts that are young and hip designed right here by a local artist, lotions produced from goats milk from a farm in Grafton, hand knit items that are one of a kind, all kinds of gifts that showcase our beautiful lake shore and the islands, holiday signs and nautical themed furniture, jewelry perfect for holiday gift giving even to yourself. The shop is decorated each year with the help of volunteers who are the backbone of our operation.”

Many of the items are made using reclaimed or “upcycled” materials from right here in Northeast Ohio. BAYarts also promises options for the men in your lives – including shaving kits with shaving bars and brushes made locally and by hand, as well as bowties featuring vintage fabrics by Tidal Cool Creations.

“We will be featuring a farm table from locally owned and produced company Kiowa,” continues Petkovic. “They use all reclaimed wood to build their beautiful one of a kind pieces. Selling products using reclaimed materials supports BAYarts zero-waste initiative. We also have one of a kind re-furbished furniture with a unique vintage flair from Vintage Novella. The must give for guys - amazing bottle openers made from vintage golf clubs. We are also selling BAY Village t-shirts with proceeds going to the BAY Village Firework fund.”

Another unique aspect of this Holiday Shop is the in-house wishlist program, which allows your friends and family to hint at their favorite items and artists/artisans. You can even purchase special BAYarts gift bags with tissue and decorative ribbon to save yourself the time and effort of wrapping your gifts.

The open house will feature music, light refreshments and the Fuller Coffee Cart – serving coffee, pumpkin tea, hot chocolate and baked goods. This pop-up shop is open through the end of the year, but with so many handmade, one-of-a-kind items, you’ll want to get there as soon as you can.
