Chef and owner Sergio Porcelli, of the popular downtown lunch spot Porcelli's Bistro on E. 6th Street, has taken possession of the former Bistro on Lincoln Park in Tremont. Porcelli's Italian Bistro is slated to open between late May and early June.

A former Tremont resident, Porcelli is thrilled to open up a new eatery in his old backyard. "I loved living in Tremont and I'm very excited to be in this neighborhood," says Porcelli.

The concept will be an authentic Italian restaurant that focuses on Italian classics that feature a subtle hint of Ethiopian flavors. "My Italian family came from Ethiopia, so there will be some Ethiopian inspiration," adds Porcelli. "All of our food will be homemade."

The menu will feature Italian staples in the form of small plates, appetizers and entrees. In the bar, Italian-themed wines will join beer and cocktails, with competitively priced happy hours being a prime objective.

A fresh exterior paint job will highlight attractive new awnings, while the interior has undergone a complete renovation. The barroom now features black granite high-top tables and an 8-seat bar, outfitted with earth-toned tile. The dining room also got slate walls, new table tops, and updated party room.

The plan is to open first for lunch and then build into dinner.

"Tremont is growing, so I want to grow with the flow," says Porcelli.
