In its Request for Proposal (RFP) issued earlier this month, the 2016 Host Committee said it planned on providing artwork to the selected vendor for "street pole banners, building banners and storefronts enhancements," all of which are part of the host committee's citywide beautification efforts before the July convention.
It should be no surprise that the storefront enhancements — mesh wraps, vinyl graphics, "other solutions" — will be used to cover up some of the uglier storefronts downtown. The current suggested locations are exclusively on Euclid Avenue and Prospect Avenue.
More specifically:
- 1001-1021, and 1101 Euclid Avenue. Mesh images are planned for the empty building windows.
- 1118-1148 Euclid Avenue, just down the street on the north side. It's the Cleveland Athletic Club building and its neighbor to the east.
- 105-109 Prospect Avenue, a portion of the graffiti-adorned storefront on the south side of the street.
- 202-306 Prospect Avenue, the other side of the street, the iconic "Goldfish Army Stores."
