CLE Pets Will Help Dress Your Dog Like a Politician

Clevelanders were expecting flocks of delegates, politicians, and journalists to be in town for the Republican National Convention, but dogs? Yeah, there are some visiting pups in town for the festivities.

“We’ve already had some delegates in, and they’re bringing their pets,” CLE Pets owner Susan Henschel says.

Susan and Kurt Henschel started CLE Pets, located in the 5th Street Arcade, some time ago with the intention of sourcing their products locally, serving the downtown community, and being a part of the revitalization.

“We’re all about local,” Henschel says.

From leashes to collars, to organic grain-free dog and cat food, they source as much locally as they can. While Cleveland will be in the spotlight, CLE Pets is rolling out something special.

For the length of the Republican National Convention, CLE Pets will be offering wigs, ties, Republican elephant-shaped pet treats, and free delivery on pet food, all of which is locally sourced. Also, coming day one of the RNC: tea biscuits for pet owners from a local distributor.

Don’t get the wrong idea though—their pet props are not an endorsement of either candidate; rather, like many other business owners, the Henshels are joining in on the excitement.

“As merchants, we’re all about being positive. We just want to service the delegates and show them what a fun city we have.”
