Arts coverage in traditional media has been decreasing across the country, Cleveland included. The Plain Dealer has not yet replaced fulltime theater writer Tony Brown, who left the paper last summer; it’s been relying on freelancers. has jumped into the breach. The new blog, which debuted this week, will aggregate reviews of area theater productions by a number of critics, both amateur and professional. Readers will be able to click on the name of a production and see a variety of opinions of the same show, demonstrating one of the strengths of such a site: offering theater aficionados a more well-rounded impression of a show than could be gleaned by a single review. Another Web edge: reviews will remain in an archive after a show’s close so readers can refer back to a theater’s or critic’s previous work. will initially feature reviews of plays at Actors’ Summit, the Beck Center, Blank Canvas Theatre at the 78th Street Galleries, Cain Park, Cesear’s Forum, Cleveland Play House, Cleveland Public Theatre, Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, convergence-continuum, Dobama Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, Great Lakes Theater, Karamu House, Lakeland Theatre, Mercury Summer Stock, the Ohio Shakespeare Festival, PlayhouseSquare, Porthouse Theatre, and Theater Ninjas. — Anastasia Pantsios
