Cleveland, These Are the Star Wars Parties You're Looking For

Forget Christmas. This winter season has been all about celebrating the newest Star Wars installment. Cleveland bars have been flipping everything over to the dark side to commemorate The Force Awakens' Dec. 17 release. From burlesque shows to bar trivia, these venues are planning to bring the force (and the booze) to Cleveland later this month.

The Side Quest's "Let the Wookiee Win" Trivia (Dec. 12) and "The Thirst Awakens" Premiere Party (Dec. 17-19)

Lakewood's Side Quest wants to make sure Clevelanders get the most out of this holiday's biggest film release. Gearing up for the premiere, the board game bar is hosting "Let the Wookiee Win," an all Star Wars-themed trivia night. The game costs $5 cash to enter and will cover only the first six films. The Side Quest is being pretty tight-lipped as far as what exactly trivia fans should study up on, but it has been adamant about one thing: The game won't feature questions on any related cartoon, comics or video games. The winning team will split the cash pot at the end of the night. For more information, the event's Facebook page has all the details.

"The Thirst Awakens" is the Side Quest's follow-up party to the film's premiere, and it's a rager. The three-night drinkfest is going to feature an exclusive drink menu, though it's being kept on the down-low. Once there, those in costume or will ticket stubs from the movie will be awarded with the themed drink list. "No spoilers" buttons will also be available to party-goers who weren't lucky enough to score tickets to the premiere. There's no cover, but more details can be found here.

Ohio Burlesque's "The Tease Awakens" at Beachland Ballroom (Dec. 11)

What better way to build up anticipation for The Force Awakens than with a good old fashioned striptease? Given by Princess Leia of course. Ohio Burlesque is hosting a performance at Beachland Ballroom tomorrow. Each performer will be dressed as beloved franchise characters, with Cleveland's own Bella Sin starring as Darth Vader.

Tickets for the show are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, though with the V.I.P. packages already sold out, the venue suggests not waiting to buy tickets at the door. The event will also feature themed treats from local eateries, a raffle for Dare2Care and a costume contest.

CLE Have a Heart's "Netflix and Chill" (Dec. 14)

Take time to celebrate all the new jedis by giving to charity. It's what Han Solo would have wanted. Well, maybe not Han, but definitely Luke. CLE Have a Heart is hosting a screening of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope at Willoughby Brewing Company, and all of the proceeds will benefit W.A.G.S. 4 Kids. Each $5 ticket gets movie-goers inside the screening, bottomless popcorn, a drink ticket and a raffle entry to win a $25 Cinemark gift card. For a full description of the charity being benefited and fun facts about the event, check out the event page.

American Legion's Star Wars Afterparty (Dec. 18)

Join Parma's American Legion after the premiere to keep this hype train going. The bar will have a cover-free night filled with trivia, costume contests, giveaways and raffles. Diehard fans could win vintage Star Wars comics or even hard cash by entering the 50/50 raffle. Check out the event page for all the gritty details.

Carol and John's Star Wars Customer Appreciation Party (Dec. 19)

For those interested in not just the Star Wars movies but the comics too, this one's for you. From now until the date of the party, Carol and John's comic shop is collecting themed artwork. At the party, guests can enter to win each piece. Every paid entry will go directly to the Cleveland Food Bank, while every comic sale from the $1 bin will also go to the charity. Since it's a customer appreciation party, there isn't a cover charge. Instead, guests can just show up, in costume or not, and start talking Stormtrooper conspiracy theories.

Melt Bar and Grilled's Star Wars Menu (Dec. 17-20)

Not exactly an event, Melt Bar and Grilled's Star Wars menu still has all the making to be a party in your mouth. Our favorite grilled cheese restaurant is offering three themed sandwiches along with a special drink menu. For dessert lovers, there's the Wookiee Melt, complete with Reese's cups, sweet cream cheese, bananas. For those with more savory cravings, there's the Vader Thai Fighter Melt, which has appeared on the menu before, and the Triple Decker Solo burger, which we've been told is Melt's spin on the class Big Mac. There's no information spreading online about Melt's celebration yet, but keep an eye on its Facebook page.
