Many years ago, one of the kitchen guys that I worked with had the song “Hair” crackling out of a pair of old speakers. I immediately fell in love with Atmosphere.
Fast-forward a few years and Slug, DJ Ant, and the various rotating pieces and parts that make up the indie rap group sound better than ever.
Atmosphere's Family Vacation Tour, which came to House of Blues last night, is packed it with openers like Prof (you have to hear “A Month From Now”), Blueprint (who has to be seen to be believed), the incendiary DJ Babu, and California’s M.C. Evidence.
By the time Atmosphere took the stage, House of Blues was limbered up and ready to party.
Things got rowdy for the nasty beats of “Shoulda Known” and “Until the Nipples Gone.” The midsection of the show got deep and gritty, as Slug turned down the lights to exorcise some demons from his latest album The Family Sign.
