David Giffels Not Working on Those New 'Beavis and Butt-head' Episodes, Is Working on New Book

Beavis and Butt-head wont be involved in Giffels new work.
  • Beavis and Butt-head won't be involved in Giffels' new work.

First the bad news for Akron’s David Giffels, the former Beacon Journal columnist, Pulitzer nominee, and Beavis and Butt-head writer: He hasn’t been asked to take part in the new Beavis and Butt-head episodes. So he’ll continue teaching at the University of Akron and writing books about grown-up stuff.

Giffels has just completed the manuscript for his second autobiographical volume. Compared to his previous book — 2008’s All the Way Home, which chronicled his struggle to refurbish a dilapidated Akron house — his next work will be slightly edgier. Be Approximately Yourself, due out next year, touches on his life as a leader of the post-punk band the Difficult and deconstructs his native Rubber City.
