
She pleaded not guilty to the two counts of rape. The judge set her bond at $2 million.
Late last week, Lorain County investigators reportedly found video of the incident on a laptop. Koon's boyfriend, a known sex offender who is registered at another address, had the laptop at his house. Both Koon and her boyfriend, James Osborne, were arrested. Police say they later identified a second victim.
The Cleveland Leader dropped some illustrative context over the weekend:
It turns out that the victim was an infant at ABC KIDZ daycare in Elyria. The father of the infant says that the daycare tried to get him to keep quiet about the incident, stating that "they tried to act like it was a simple assault." The father, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he is speaking out so that other parents can figure out if their child may have also been victimized.
Here's the statement from the daycare center, via attorney Carlos Johnson:
The daycare in cooperating with the investigation and we’re compiling a list to determine which kids were present while she, Heather Koon, worked there. We do not think there are more victims, but out of the abundance of cautiousness we want to make sure that we are correct.
Earlier this year, ABC KIDZ came up short during health department inspections. The daycare was not following sanitary code relating to food and hygiene.
