A Euclid woman and her three children have received sentences in the neglect of their bedridden husband and father, Richard Brichacek. Wife, Deborah Brichacek, 60, was sentenced to seven years in prison and charged with "involuntary manslaughter and failing to care for a functionally impaired person," Cleveland.com reports.

The Brichaceks went with a plea deal before their trial began.

Daughters, Wendi and Debbi Brichacek, each received one year of probation in addition to 50 hours of community service. The son, Brian Brichacek, was given 18 months of probation in addition to 80 hours of community service.

Rich Brichacek's neglect had become so bad that there were bedsores on his body "deep enough to see his leg bone," prosecutors said. He suffered from Charcot-Marie-Tooth syndrome, a disorder that damages the nerves in the arms and legs, causing Richard Brichacek to be bedridden and dependent on his wife and children.

When found, Richard Brichacek, weighed 97 pounds, and according to investigators responding to the crime scene, maggots had taken up residence in his bed. The official cause of Richard Brichacek's death was multiple organ failure, according to the the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
