Whether you wait with bated breath for the Winter Olympics every four years or are just now realizing it's starting up at all, this quadrennial event is going to dominate the cultural zeitgeist for the next few weeks.

But with a 14-hour time difference between Pyeongchang, South Korea, and Cleveland, and the nearly endless coverage NBC is devoting to the Olympics, it may be challenging to decide which events are worth your time/how you can watch them.

Here are a few tips to help you stay on top of the onslaught of cold weather athleticism headed your way:

When to catch the Opening Ceremony
The most committed of Olympic viewers have likely already seen the kickoff spectacle, with the Opening Ceremony occurring live at 6 a.m. For everyone else, NBC will re-air the event later tonight at 8 p.m. as a two hour special.

Where to watch
If you have a cable subscription, events can be viewed live and in primetime on TV through NBC and its affiliates. It can also be streamed through and through the NBC Sports app.

For anyone without a cable subscription, paid streaming services like YouTube TV, Sling TV and Hulu's TV service are broadcasting the events.

Which channel airs which sport
NBC has split up the task of covering the games between its affiliates. NBC's main channel airs snowboarding, alpine skiing and figure skating. NBC Sports Network takes short track speed skating, women's ice hockey and bobsled. CNBC has curling while USA Network also takes curling and hockey.

When to catch the most anticipated events
