Even after The Drew Carey Show, the Virginia-set Cleveland Show and 2007’s 30 Rock one-episode plotline, Cleveland still has ample fodder for sitcoms. TV Land — formerly Nick at Nite, the Paramount station best known for re-running classic sitcoms — has announced plans to develop a pilot for a potential comedy series, Hot in Cleveland.
According to the channel’s press release, the project is being developed as a prime-time program. It “revolves around three fabulous, eccentric, L.A. women of a certain age, and best friends whose lives are changed forever when their plane unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they soon rediscover themselves in this new ‘promised land.’”
TV Land president Larry W. Jones’s told Scene it’s still too early to provide further details about the show, which is still being developed and cast. TV Land doesn’t have a tentative air date yet. Hot in Cleveland is being written by Emmy winner Suzanne Martin (whose résumé includes Frasier and Ellen) and produced by Emmy-winner Sean Hayes’ Hazy Mills Production (Hayes played Jack on Will & Grace).
