Brewnuts, the Gordon Square donut shop, is donating a portion of their proceeds today to
Everytown For Gun Safety, an organization devoted to ending gun violence in the United States.
In the wake of the Lakeland, Florida, school shooting that left 17 dead and at least 14 more injured, according to the
latest reports, the donut shop decided they needed to do something to help curb gun violence.
Brewnuts took to
Instagram yesterday saying:
"If you are heartbroken or furious (or like us, maybe both) to see this most recent mass shooting in what has become a never ending list, think of just a small way you can advocate. Start there. Then let’s build on that together. We don’t have a ton of sales on Thursdays typically but so what? We have some and we can make sure we give with what we get. Start small. Act locally, think globally."
They added that this is "a small way that we can do something as a community minded business who believes in the safety of kids and teachers."
Brewnuts opens for the morning at 6:30 a.m. until noon, or when they sell out their donuts. They then re-open for the afternoon at 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
