Jimmy Dimora Trial Delayed Pending Appellate Decision (Updated)

Update: Nevermind. The 6th Circuit court ruled quickly in denying Dimora's request for a delay in his trial until the appeal court rules on the whole double jeopardy thing. The circus officially gets underway in Akron Thursday morning with opening statements. And probably a donut. Or six. Cuz he's a big guy. Get it? (Cleveland.com)

Fans and concerned citizens pining for the Dimora trial to just get the hell underway already will have to wait a little bit longer. The unreleased wiretaps, the testimony from Russo and others, the angry looks from the former commissioner with just a hint of mayo on his freshly shaven mug — that all is on hold.

Judge Lioi decided Monday that the trial will be temporarily halted until January 27 as an appellate court decides whether the second batch of indictments constitutes double jeopardy. (In this scenario, we guess Dimora is Ashley Judd. Appropriate since they wear the same bra size.)

Federal prosecutors want a speedy decision from the court, claiming that over 100 witnesses have already booked their hotel and travel arrangements to participate in the trial of big Jimmy.

So buckle in for a brief delay. It shouldn't be too much longer, however, until we get to enjoy the circus of this fucking guy over here.
