Let this news serve as notice that our government does indeed tackle the tough issues and is not always subject to dawdling around red tape when vital decisions need to be made.
Ohio's own John Boehner announced yesterday that there will be a new ladies bathroom in the House conveniently located near the chamber.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
For female lawmakers, the nearest restroom currently is across Statuary Hall. This new bathroom will be just off the floor, in an office currently occupied by the parliamentarian, at the opposite end of the Speaker’s Gallery from the men’s room. This may seem like small stuff, but Congress has been slow to adjust to the times, particularly where women are concerned. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the first woman to wield the gavel, created a room for nursing mothers after she became speaker in 2007, making the Capitol more accessible to the then-growing number of young women in Congress.
Now you know not only how the sausage is made, but how and where the water is made.
