Back in May, Kent State student and North Royalton resident Carrie Esser provided Scene readers with an exclusive makeup tutorial for a bright summer eye based on her finalist competition entry for the NYX Face Awards.

At only 20 years old, the self-taught makeup artist has gained 13.3k followers on Instagram for her makeup and body painting work, and is currently the only competitor for the NYX Face Awards representing Ohio.

Esser has since moved onto the Top 12, and voting is now underway to send her to the next round, which includes a two-week trip to Los Angeles and $15,000.

In order for Esser to move forward in the competition, public voting is in place for the contestant's latest challenge titled "Icons." Esser chose Kesha as her personal icon and offered three makeup looks, including body painting.

Voting is live until July 19, and voters are allowed to submit up to 3 votes each day by clicking here. You can follow Makeup Madhouse on Instagram here.
