For over two years, guys, gals and non-binary pals of all shapes and sizes were able to find the fun and flirty fashions of yesteryear by taking a visit to Retro Rosie. Owned and operated by Miranda Scott, Retro Rosie is a pin-up boutique featuring the stylings of Swing, Flapper, Tea, Wiggle and Rockabilly dresses in addition to beauty products and vintage accessories.

Unfortunately, Retro Rosie will be closing its doors for good on at the end of the month. Scott spoke to Scene stating, "Retro Rosie provided a fun, adorable and feisty space for women to come shop and be themselves, and to feel empowered. I’m really proud of all those moments I had in my shop."

This unique shop also featured an extensive plus-size selection, a demographic frequently ignored by the vintage fashion industry. "I think the lack of plus sizes available is really disappointing. It just wasn’t even a question in my mind for me to bring a full size range to Retro Rosie," said Scott. Retro Rosie's closing follows the closing of plus-size specialty shop Re/Dress' brick and mortar location. Scott continued, "It’s just mind blowing to me that some shops don’t carry plus size when the average size is a 16. I hope more big box and local shops step up and start recognizing people of all sizes."

Retro Rosie is closing its doors, but the ever-popular Cleveland Vegan will be taking over the space and expanding their restaurant. Miranda Scott has been their neighbor for the last two years, so she's seen firsthand the need for their expansion. "They are killing it and are busy from sun up to sun down, they all work so hard!"

As for Scott, this is not the last we'll see of her. "I’m closing Retro Rosie to open a Modern Witchcraft store. It’s so amazing how it all fell into place for me. I feel like it’s meant to be."

The new location won't be far from Retro Rosie, still off of Detroit and near the Proper Pig.

"I have been going to Salem, Massachusetts for the last three years and I’m obsessed with the shops there." Scott said. "I practice witchcraft and I’m really into spirituality, meditation, and holistic healing and empowering my mind. The new shop will incorporate all of those things and I can’t wait!"

Retro Rosie closes on April 30 and is currently liquidating all of the shop's remaining merchandise. Retro Rosie is located at 17110 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, Ohio 44107.
